    March 11

    update

The rally is coming together - all we need now is really good weather that weekend and lots of classic cars!!
The entry forms state closing date for the 15th March  -next Saturday. The closing date had to be early as Easter is early, and needing time to order the plaques.

The closing date was to guaruntee a plaue and an entry in the programme - but we will not turn an entrant away - we admit cars on the days of our events, unlike many shows.

So - please come and support us in celebrating 25 years of us and 60 years of the Morris Minor.

We've had the bar confirmed and catering, we've got children's rides and hope to make this a family weekend with all of Bentley Wildfowl's facilities available to evryone who comes.

Please call 07928280618 for further details or email me: esmmc@hotmail.co.uk or info@morrisminorclubeastsussex.co.uk with the subject as Rally 2008 please.

    Where does time go to?

    Hi all
Time has just disappeared over last few months. I've started to put some pics on my Flickr gallery - at some point I'll add a  link from here.
Rally organisation for next year is going ok - just need some cars being entered!
All classic cars / bikes/ commercials are welcome.

We had a good run out in October with 11 cars trekking round Sussex, ending up at the Golden Cross pub for lunch and down onto the beach at Seaford.
    August 21

A reminder for you - spaces are limited for our annual dinner on July 9th. Meal choice slips have to be returned to me by Saturday - 30th June, so I can then order our meals. There are still a few spaces left, but only a few if you haven't already booked.

    2008 RALLY - 10/11 May

    2008 RALLY:
weekend event 10 -11 May 2008 at Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum, Halland, near Lewes East Sssex.

We've just had our first organistion meeting about this rally. This is going to be a HUGE event.
It's East Sussex Morris Minor Club's 25th rally and the 60th birthday of the Morris Minor.

SO......... put the date in your diary!
If you can help out with sponsorship, a donation or a raffle prize then email me...... 2008@morrisminorclubeastsussex.co.uk
every sponsor will be acknowledged in the rally programme given to all rally entrants on the day. If the donation/sponsorship/prize is over a certain amount then an advertisement for that business will be placed in the programme.

All classic cars are welcome, especially Morris Minors (of course) and those of the Austin/Morris/Riley/Wolsely family. All we ask is that it is pre-1973 (a car that qualifies for DVLA's Historic Vehicle taxation class), and that it is road legal: has a valid insurance certificate, MOT certificate and tax disc, and is driven by a legally licenced driver.

If your car is more recent, and you would like to show it, please contact me first - vehicles of special interest will always be admitted, and others are considered as "modern classics", but this is primarily a Morris Minor rally.

Ultimately we want this to be the biggest and best rally and celebration event that we can make it!
And we want you to be part of it!

Next Club night - Monday 11th June

I think everyone has dried out now after a very wet rally at Michelham Priory, and a cold wet bank holiday weekend. Some of us have ended up with colds because of the weather!!

A reminder to members that our meeting on Monday is at 7.30pm at the Martello Tower Museum in Seaford. Please bring your Morris Minor if possible as the curator is asking the Sussex Express if a photographer can come down.

    !3 May 2007 - Our rally

We had a really wet and windy day today, but we stuck it out!
The only thing that changed was that we wrapped the whole rally up by about 3 o'clock this afternoon. We moved everything forward about an hour, and that left everyone free to go and get home into the dry!

Today started off reasonably well - it was dry and calm, and the sun was trying to come out - but this was just before 7am today. The forecast was dire - wet and windy all day..... and it was (unfortunately) correct.

Jason set up the gazebo over the back of the van, and had plenty of stock to sell - Tim, Philip, Stephen, David and Laurie had all also emptied their garages and brought things to sell. The Macs had a sort out at home and had a stall selling various books, CDs and videos.

The first two cars arrived around 9, and by late morning we had 50 cars on display! There were 52 cars pre-booked, some of these did not turn up because of the weather, but 10 cars who weren't booked in, turned up anyway! It was lovely to have such support today.

Annette and Tony had their Scalextric tracks set up in the barn - it was lovely and warm in there too as the heating was put on  -a place for us all to dry out!  Paul and I managed to get the 3 fastest laps on the speed track - I'm well chuffed with winning a Hornby model car kit! We set the lap times fairly early in the morning and no-one beat us!
They raised some money for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, unfortuantely not as much as they would have liked to. As the weather was against us the general public weren't visiting Michelham Priory today, or spending time sitting in the courtyard.

A well earned coffee in the restaurant before getting home, unpacking the car and drying off ........ it was a really good day despite the weather.

    Rally this Sunday - May 13th 2007

Whaver the weather the rally is going ahead...... There may only be the committee there if he weather continues to be as awful as the last few days, but we will be there!!

If it brightens up and you want to come then PLASE do! Everyone is welcome and entries are taken on the day..... mayb we will all be camping out in the barn with Annette and Tony's Sclextric track!

    Hope to see you there!

    RALLY 2007 - 13TH MAY

This year our rally is on Sunday May 13th at Michelham Priory, Upper Dicker, East Sussex.
The venue is easy to get to - signposted from the A27 and A22.
From the A27, heading towards Eastbourne from Lewes, take the 1st exit at the roundabout at Drusillas, going towards Berwick. Follow the road across the railway line, past Arlington reservoir and towards Upper Dicker. As you go past the Plough pub on your left take the next right by St Bedes Upper School. Michelham Priory is about a mile and a half on your right.

All being well we should be on the south lawn in front of the house - if the weather turns out to be really rubbish (as it as while I write this), and the lawn is too wet, then we will be displaying the cars amongst the flower beds on the north side of the house - where we have been for the last two years.

Entries are accepted on the day - £9 per car, with driver and 1 passenger - group rate is payable on the day for additional passengers. We would like everyone to be on site by 10am so there is a good display for the paying public to see.
Pre-booked entries only are garunteed a rally plaque, and are elgible for prizes. There should be a few plaques available for people who arrive on the day.

Special event this year is a Scalextric track in the barn: Tony is running two tracks: Fastest Lap - prize for the fastest lap of the day - £1 a go, and a 4 lane Race ya Mates track - £1 per lane for 10 minutes - how many laps can you complete? Money raised will be divided between ESMMC and the Trevor Mann Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital where their son spent the first four months of his life.

Elaine will be running her raffle again, and Jason is running a parts stand on behalf of the club - members are bringing and selling their spares and paying a small percentage to the club for doing so.

    EAST SUSSEX MORRIS MINOR CLUB

    Hello

Welcome to the new MY SPACE for East Sussex Morris Minor Club.

We are an independant Morris Minor Club, with around 90 members, primarily from East Sussex. We were formed in 1982 as a branch of the national Morris Minor Owners Club. Several years ago we decided to go it alone, and are still a successful club in our own right.

We have our own website too - www.morrisminorclubeastsussex.co.uk so please visit us there too!

Please contact me if you want to join us or if you have any Morris Minor tales to tell, hints and tips or anything Morris related!!!
